JoggMini Star, Gem, Tier, and Milestone Calculation Guide

JoggMini uses Stars, Gems, Tiers, badges, streaks, and certificates. It does not use XP or conventional level grinding as the active reward model. The purpose of this guide is to make scoring understandable to parents, teachers, and older learners without exposing private implementation details.

The important principle is simple: the client records learning facts, while the server validates the result. The app never trusts a child device to submit “I earned 20 Stars.” Instead, it submits question IDs, selected answers, activity type, timing context, and a stable idempotency key. The canonical policy then calculates the result.

1. Universal reward rules

These rules apply across reward-bearing modes:

2. Star rounding

JoggMini stores Stars precisely and displays clean whole/half-Star values.

Raw calculated valueStored/displayed Stars
00
0.010.5
1.001
1.011.5
2.492.5
7.507.5
7.518

Rounding upward is child-friendly because a learner who earns a tiny positive value should see progress. Zero remains zero.

3. Daily Quest

Daily Quest is a short daily learning habit. It contains exactly five questions from a separate Daily Quest pool. It is saved as a draft until the learner submits.

Correct answersDaily target Stars
0/50
1/51
2/52
3/54
4/57
5/510

Save is not Submit. A saved draft preserves choices but does not award Stars and does not update the streak. Submit requires all five questions.

Daily Quest uses best-of-day positive delta. If a learner first scores 2/5, the target is 2 Stars. If they later improve to 4/5, the target becomes 7 and the app awards only the improvement: 5 Stars. If they later score 3/5, the target is 4 and the improvement is zero because the best target is already 7. The maximum Daily Quest target is 10 Stars for that local day.

Daily Quest is also the source of the canonical daily streak. One local day can count once. Streak badges are evaluated at 3, 7, 14, 30, 90, 180, 365, and 500 days. The 30-day streak also has a once-only Gem milestone.

4. World Lane

World Lane is the main learning path inside each of the ten Worlds. A learner chooses 5, 10, or 20 questions, difficulty filters, topic filters, and a timer.

Let:

If accuracy is below 20%, the target is zero. At 20% or above, each correct answer contributes a base value:

DifficultyBase Stars per correct answer
Easy2
Medium3
Hard5

The time modifier uses a reference of N × 60 seconds. Finishing earlier can slightly increase the target, while finishing very late can reduce it.

Time compared with referenceMultiplier
More than 360 seconds early1.30
More than 240 seconds early1.20
More than 180 seconds early1.10
More than 120 seconds early1.05
From 120 seconds early through 60 seconds late1.00
More than 60 but less than 300 seconds late0.95
300 seconds late or more0.90

Example: A five-question session has one Easy correct answer and four incorrect answers. Accuracy is exactly 20%, so it qualifies. Base target is 2 Stars. With neutral time, the learner receives 2 Stars.

World Lane also tracks mastery. Incorrect questions are recycled before unanswered/mastered questions so the learner can improve. A World completes when all active questions are attempted and overall accuracy is greater than 70%. Every first-attempt block of 50 World questions can grant one Gem if that block reaches at least 70% accuracy; later correction can grant a missed block once.

5. Arcade

Arcade has 100 levels. Each level has 10 questions. The learner must pass before timeout; exit, timeout, or fail gives no Stars and does not unlock the next level. Passing requires at least 8/10.

Level bandDifficulty poolTimeStar value per correct answer
1–10Easy7 minutes1
11–20Easy6 minutes1.5
21–30Easy + Medium6 minutes1.5
31–50Medium5 minutes2
51–60Medium + Hard5 minutes2.5
61–80Hard5 minutes2.5
81–100Hard4 minutes3

Example: level 35 pays 2 Stars per correct answer after a pass. An 8/10 pass targets 16 Stars. If the learner later replays and scores 9/10, the new target is 18 and the improvement is 2. A later 8/10 adds zero.

Every tenth Arcade level — 10, 20, 30, and so on through 100 — can grant one once-only Gem milestone.

6. Random Take Quiz

Random Take Quiz contains 10 questions. At 7/10 or better, it targets 2 Stars and increments qualifying Quiz Count once. Below 7/10, it awards zero and does not qualify.

Random Quiz rewards are capped at 10 Stars per local day. That means at most five qualifying Random Quiz attempts can pay Stars in one day. Additional qualifying attempts may still record results, but the daily Star cap prevents farming.

7. Teacher quizzes and parent tasks

Teacher quizzes, joined quizzes, and parent question tasks are assessment modes. They can record score, accuracy, elapsed time, question count, completion state, and qualifying quiz count where policy allows. They do not directly award Stars. This prevents adult-assigned assessments from becoming a reward exploit and keeps the child’s canonical rewards tied to the intended learning modes.

8. Gems

Gems are rare milestones, not normal per-question currency. Current Gem sources include qualifying 50-question World blocks, selected cumulative-Star and cumulative-Gem milestones, every tenth Arcade level, and the 30-day Daily Quest streak milestone. Each Gem milestone has a unique identity so retries or multiple devices cannot grant it twice.

9. Tiers

Tiers are derived from cumulative canonical Stars. They make long-term progress understandable without changing any scoring formula. Tier progress is calculated as:

(current Stars − current tier minimum) / (next tier minimum − current tier minimum)

The value is clamped between 0 and 1. The final Tier displays complete progress. Tiers do not multiply rewards and cannot be purchased.

10. Badges and certificates

Badges are awarded when durable milestones become true: streaks, cumulative Stars, cumulative Gems, qualifying quizzes, each World completion, and the full ten-World collection. Each badge is unique per learner and policy version. Every earned badge creates one certificate entitlement. The certificate is rendered locally as a branded JPEG for motivation and sharing; it is not an accredited school certificate.

11. Offline and retry behavior

JoggMini is local-first. Local commits store event, ledger, summary, and outbox state together. Cloud-eligible profiles later submit the same stable event to server validation. If the exact same event is retried, the server returns the original outcome. If the same idempotency key is reused with different facts, the server rejects it.

When a parent uses cloud recovery on a device, the app replaces conflicting local reward state with the authoritative cloud snapshot after confirmation. It never adds two histories together just because both exist.

12. What never changes scoring

The following never change the formula: subscription plan, parent/teacher role, device count, avatar, outfit, notification preference, certificate download, Store purchase, World allowance, or app theme. Paid plans unlock access and recovery; they do not buy better scores.

13. Authoritative Tier Names and Meanings

The Tier system is a public label for lifetime Star progress. A Tier is not a paid plan, not an age group, and not a separate score. It is a readable name for the learner's current Star band. The app should show the current Tier beside the number of Stars needed for the next Tier, for example: "Oak Tier - 200 Stars to Bronze Tier" or "Bronze Tier - 500 Stars to Copper Tier." This wording helps learners understand both where they are and what the next milestone is.

TierStar RangeMeaning in the learner journey
Oak0 - 200A learner is starting the habit, learning the interface, and building early confidence.
Bronze200 - 500The learner has completed enough submitted activities to show early consistency.
Copper500 - 1,500The learner is moving from isolated attempts into broader AI vocabulary and practice.
Tin1,500 - 3,000The learner has enough history for progress patterns, streaks, and topic strength to matter.
Steel3,000 - 5,000The learner is developing durable recall across multiple Worlds and activity modes.
Iron5,000 - 8,000The learner has established a strong learning rhythm and meaningful topic coverage.
Silver8,000 - 12,000The learner is becoming fluent across foundations, data, safety, and application topics.
Electrum12,000 - 18,000The learner has crossed into advanced, sustained practice across many sessions.
Platinum18,000 - 25,000The learner has a large body of submitted work and should see progress as mastery-building.
Gold25,000 - 35,000The learner has long-term commitment and strong breadth across JoggMini content.
Diamond35,000 - 50,000The learner has exceptional cumulative progress and deep experience in the learning system.
Legendary50,000+The learner has reached the highest named Star band in the current reward policy.

Tiers are intentionally cumulative. A learner does not lose a Tier because of a wrong answer, a missed day, or a subscription change. The Tier only changes when lifetime canonical Stars cross the next threshold.

14. Badge Tables Used by the App

The following tables are the public badge thresholds shown in the app's Progress, Daily Quest, Quiz, and Badges views. They should remain aligned with the reward policy and the UI dialogs.

14.1 Progress Star Badges

Progress badges recognize lifetime Star milestones. These badges are broad indicators of sustained learning across reward-bearing activities.

25,000AI Guru Badge
35,000AI Mastery Badge
50,000AI Don Badge

14.2 Gem Badges

Gem badges recognize rare milestone progress. Gems are deliberately scarce, so these badges should feel different from ordinary per-session rewards.

14.3 Daily Quest Streak Badges

Daily Quest streak badges recognize submitted Daily Quest consistency. Saving a Daily Quest draft does not count. Opening the app without submitting does not count. One local day can count once.

7 daysWeek Warrior
14 days2-Week Warrior
30 daysMonthly Champion
90 days3-Month Master
180 days6-Month Hero

14.4 Quiz Badges

Quiz badges recognize completed qualifying quizzes. A qualifying quiz is a submitted quiz session that meets the policy threshold for that quiz type. Random Take Quiz qualifies at 70% or higher. Teacher, joined, and parent-task quiz sessions may count for qualifying quiz milestones where policy allows, but they do not directly pay Stars.

15. Certificate Definitions

Certificates are generated from earned badge entitlements. They are motivational records that show a child completed a JoggMini milestone. They are not school credentials, not professional certificates, and not evidence of formal assessment. A certificate should include the learner's display name, badge name, date, and JoggMini branding. Because the certificate is linked to a badge entitlement, the app should not create a certificate for an unearned badge and should not duplicate certificates for the same milestone.

Certificate categories follow the badge categories: Star progress certificates, Gem milestone certificates, Daily Quest streak certificates, Quiz milestone certificates, World completion certificates, and the full original-ten-World completion certificate. This keeps certificate language understandable for parents and safe for public sharing.
